The Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) is the center of communication, truth, and authentic self expression. For this piece, grapes felt like the perfect symbol. They grow in clusters, shaped by patience, time, and care, much like our voices. In Italy, grapes carry centuries of meaning tied to land, labor, ritual, and shared stories.
This artwork is part of my Italian Chakra Series, created as a way of reconnecting my own energy to the place I now call home. After years living in Malawi and working with patterns inspired by its landscapes and traditions, I felt drawn to create a new chakra set rooted in Italy’s food culture and artisanal history.
Each piece in the series is made slowly by hand using ink, acrylic, and a few drops of Mediterranean seawater. The circular composition, mosaic tiles, and stained glass like textures reference Italian craftsmanship that is tactile, imperfect, and deeply human.
The grapes represent voice that ripens with time, the courage to speak honestly, and the beauty of shared expression. This artwork is for anyone seeking to speak more clearly, communicate with intention, or create space for their voice to be heard. Whether it hangs in a kitchen, studio, or workspace, it is meant to support expression that feels grounded, warm, and true.
